We designed and developed these cnc-machined spring guides in response to our initial testing of the OEM KYB fork cartridges, which tended to "lock" in the last 20mm of travel, when hitting larger obstacles on the trail.
The OEM plastic spring guides are loose on the damper rod shaft, and the aluminium hydrostop, that is fixed to the damper rod, has too little clearance between it's outside and the cartridge recess, causing the rapid decelleration on the final part of the stroke.
This causes a harshness to the fork action, and in severe cases, can shear the hydrostop from the shaft, then shatter the plastic spring guide.
Our machined acetal spring guide is larger & stronger than the stock moulded part, plus it is attached securely to the damper rod using a threaded nut at the top.
It has a stainless-steel & aluminium 3-piece, tapered hydrostop at the bottom, this gives a much more progressive final completion to the fork stroke, helping to achieve the full 200mm travel of the OEM cartridge.
It also incorporates a check-valve, to prevent hesitation, and sticking, after full compression, so allowing the fork to return to full extension swiftly and smoothly.
A simple improvement to the OEM fork, can be fitted with OEM fork caps, or our Adjustable Preload Caps RRP 614.
EXTERNAL DIAMETER OF SPRING GUIDE IS 26MM-TO SUIT AFTERMARKET FORK SPRINGS WITH INTERNAL DIAMETER OF MORE THAN 26MM
THESE DO NOT WORK WITH OEM FORK SPRINGS.
